We are excited to introduce you to Physical Activity for Everyone (PA4E1), an innovative and evidence-based physical activity program specifically designed for high schools. PA4E1 is a whole-school program designed to enhance student health and wellbeing. Our expert team at Hunter New England Population Health are collaborating with schools to integrate PA4E1 seamlessly into their existing frameworks.
It is recommended that adolescents do at least 60-minutes each day of moderate to vigorous physical activity (Australian Government, 2021; WHO, 2022). However, research shows that 81% of adolescents do not meet the physical activity recommendations globally (WHO, 2022).
Engaging in physical activity offers numerous benefits, and the PA4E1 program has been proven to enhance physical activity levels among adolescents. For students, these benefits include:
Physical activity doesn't have to be limited to the school setting. You can play a vital role in supporting PA4E1 at home, and even join in on the program yourself.
We understand that time constraints and costs can be significant barriers, but it's important to remember that every bit of movement counts. Incorporating physical activity into your daily routine can be both simple and low-cost. For instance, walking or biking to the shops or school are easy ways to stay active. Remember, even small amounts of physical activity can add up throughout the day!
